Mini-Lesson: Character
Characters:
the people in the stories and books we read (could be animals, robots, machines, etc. too)
characteristic:
a detail that shows a character’s personality
Readers notice details about characters to understand the characters and their conflicts.
Readers notice what characters do and say, and what others say about them.
Different Characteristics:
Physical – what do they look like?
Behavioral – How do they act?
Moral – How do they think? What do the believe?
Workshop:
Students read Alice Walker’s “Everyday Use” and studied details of one of the characters in the story by filling out this Character Worksheet.
WEDNESDAY – no class
